Product Description

The RaceQuip SA-2010 Full Face helmet is an all new design that incorporates pre-preg construction based on steel tooling. In this process, the optimum ratio of resin is impregnated into the composite fabric (a combination of carbon fiber, Kevlar, and FRP) prior to molding. Next, the pre-preg is forced into the steel mold using vacuum pressure, then oven cured to precise thermal specifications. This manufacturing technique eliminates excess resin weight and ensures uniform shell thickness while leaving the outer surface smooth and blemish free. The shell is then mated to an expanded polystyrene (EPS) liner to create a modern lightweight helmet design. The RaceQuip Snell SA-2010 Full Face helmet is loaded with many features you would expect to find in a helmet costing much more. These features include a lightweight composite shell, aluminum pivot kit with an adjustable friction lock, plus a silicone shield gasket to keep out dust and dirt. A wide eyeport provides great per ipheral vision and allows for the use of personal eyewear. The distortion free low fog polycarbonate face shield is a full 3mm thick and comes with eight position, hand ratcheting tear-off posts. Of course the SA spec means that both the helmet’s paint and interior are fire retardant so the RaceQuip Full Face helmet is suitable for use in the highest forms of auto racing competition. The RaceQuip SA-2010 Full Face helmet incorporates a Kevlar chin strap for strength, a comfort fit blended Nomex interior for great feel, and pre-drilled holes for easier installation of head and neck restraint anchors. Wrap all these features in a lightweight aero design composite shell and the result is the outstanding value delivered by the RaceQuip SA-2010 Full Face helmet.

4Narrow/Oblong fitting...
By Ratatouille
I looked at helmetcity.com for measurement instruction. Base on the measurement I took, I ordered the medium sized helmet. The fit is actually quite good, except the top end of the helmet is narrow, causing some discomfort at the back of my head (top side). It almost feel like there are two buldges on the back (top) of the helmet. I don't really know how else to describe the area..

In addition, the opening of the helmet is relatively tight. I wear prescription glasses, and I was not able to put on my glasses after putting the helmet on. I've had other helmets and usually it does not take much effort to wear my glasses. I think if the helmet was a little widers, it would have been perfect. Quality and packaging of the helmet seems nice for the price. I just ordered the bigger one to see if it might work out for me. I'll update later...

**update: I recieved the Large sized helmet this past week. Tried it and surprisingly, the fit is still pre tty good. However, now I am able to wear my glasses with the helmet on. Helmet still feels a little narrow, but the pressure point on the back of my head is not as obvious. This helmet will suffice for a HPDE event where each track time normally around 30 minutes.

**latest update: Just got back from Mid-Ohio track with the MORPCA group. Put the helmet to the test. Each session was 30 minutes and I did not feel any discomfort during the session. For the price, I highly recommend this SA2010 rated helmet for HPDE events...

Adding another start to my previous review.

5very comfortable (YMMV) and offers better ventilation than I expected
By Eric T
Shortly before an event, I noticed that my old Snell 2000 helmet wasn't allowed anymore by club rules. I needed a replacement that was in stock, SA2010 rated and wouldn't break the bank. I bought this without looking up any size charts; my old helmet was size L so I ordered this one in size L also.

I lucked out; after using this helmet for 4 days (a pair of 2-day events) the fit seems to be perfect for me.

I instruct at DE events and depending on student assignments I can end up doing every session. That means wearing the helmet 50%, 75%, up to 100% of the day ... My old (no-name, open face) helmet had a *slight* pressure point on the forehead that would end up giving me a headache after a few sessions but so far this helmet is pure comfort. Of course with helmets you have to remember that head shapes vary and what fits me might not fit you. YMMV

I think the helmet looks great. The extended chin piece and sculpting on the top makes it look like a Formula car helmet for open cockpits. The little 'chin spoiler' makes the front stick out further than usual but it's not a big issue.

There aren't a lot of vents and I was worried that the helmet would be very warm to wear but it's surprisingly cool inside. We run in street cars (with windows open) and heat hasn't been an issue so far. I can't comment on visor sealing or wind buffeting since I'm never exposed to direct air stream.

Installing my communicator mic & headset (Chatterbox FFHS) was pretty easy, but FYI velcro won't stick to the liner so my speakers keep falling out of place. I wish the liner had pocket folds in the ear recesses so I could just tuck the speakers in and be done with it.

Overall I'm really happy with this helmet. Comes with a pretty basic carrying / storage bag.
